  • Formation:     Montana Group, Two Medicine Formation

  • Location:        Montana

General Info

Synonyms (older names and misidentifications in the literature)

  • Egg of Troodon formosus Leidy
  • 1996 Prismatoolithus levis Zelenitsky & Hills
  • 2002 Prismatoolithus levis Zelenitsky & Hills; Varricchio, Horner & Jackson
  • 2002 Prismatoolithus levis Zelenitsky & Hills; Zelenitsky, Modesto & Currie
  • 2004 Prismatoolithus levis Zelenitsky & Hills; Varricchio & Jackson

Stratigraphic Occurrence

  • Judith River Group, Two Medicine Formation of Montana

  • Judith River Group, Judith River Formation of Montana

  • Judith River Group, Oldman Formation of Alberta, Canada

Age

  • The reported occurrences of Prismatoolithus levis Zelenitsky & Hills indicate a range of late Middle Campanian Stage to early Late Campanian Stage (~75–73 mya).  However, Troodon formosus Leidy is known to range from the middle Late Campanian Stage to the Latest Maastrichtian Stage (~74–66 mya), so we're either missing some reports, or some pieces of the puzzle still await to be collected from the Hell Creek/Lance and Judith River Formations (the Judith River Fm is slightly old than the Oldman Fm according to our sources).

Geographic Occurrence (not an all-inclusive list)

  • Alberta, Canada

  • Hill County, MT

  • Teton County, MT
