Melchiorites mitsinjensis Collignon, 1963

Remarks

  • Here's a close ally of Desmoceras latidorsatum (Michelin) from the early middle Albian of Madagascar.

General Info

Synonyms (older names and misidentifications in the literature)

  • 1963 Melchiorites falcistriatus var. mitsinjensis Collignon

  • Early Albian rocks of Madagascar

Age

  • Melchiorites mitsinjensis Collignon co-occurs with Desmoceras latidorsatum (Michelin) in the Douvilleiceras inaequinodum Zone, early middle Albian.  We were expecting to find it all the way into the early Cenomanian, but we haven't seen any reports in the literature.
