Parapuzosia (Parapuzosia) americana Scott and Moore, 1928 Remarks Remarks - Collector: Keith Minor
- Formation: Austin Group, top of Atco Limestone
- Location: Dallas County, TX
General Info Synonyms (older names and misidentifications in the literature) Stratigraphic Occurrence - Middle Austin Group, formation is uncertain but is from about the level of the Jonah or Dessau Limestone (see below)
- The one to the right came from the top of the Atco Limestone.
Age - The formation was unknown to Scott and Moore, but they indicated that the holotypes of both P. americana Scott & Moore and P. bosei Scott & Moore were associated with Texanites (Texanites) texanus (Roemer) [as "Mortoniceras texanum Roemer"] and Barroisiceras (Texasia) dentatocarinatum (Roemer) [as"Barroisiceras dentato-carinatum Roemer"].
- T. (T.) texanus (Roemer) is a maker for the Early Santonian, while B. (T.) dentatocarinatum (Roemer) has been reported from the Jonah Formation and base of the Dessau Limestone, Late Santonian to earliest Campanian Stage.
- Our feeling is that P. americana Scott & Moore is of probable Santonian Age.
- The example from Dallas County suggests that P. americana ranges down into the late Coniacian Stage.
Geographic Occurrence (not an all-inclusive list) - Dallas County, Texas
- South-central Texas
