Cuphosolenus Piette, 1876 sp. Remarks -
Collector: Linda Hanrahan -
Formation: Trinity Group, Lower Glen Rose Limestone -
Location: Comal County, TX -
The angle and general shapes of the digits, and the occurrence of Linda's specimen in the Lower Glen Rose (stratigraphically much lower than any other Aporrhaid described from the Texas Cretaceous) suggest that it's a new undescribed species of Cuphosolenus. Unfortunately, it's an internal mold, so no ornamentation is preserved. -
See the Cuphosolenus tarrantensis page for taxonomic and nomenclature issues regarding the genus General Info Stratigraphic Occurrence - Linda's specimen comes from the Lower Glen Rose Limestone in south-central Texas.
Age - This Aporrhaid comes from the very Early Albian Stage (~ 112 mya).
